Diseases and health problems can have a deep and long lasting impact on patients. Acting for Health helps patients suffering from disability, stigma, mental health problems and blindness to restore confidence and develop the communication skills to overcome the disease burden.

Acting for Health uses innovative theatre and communication techniques to develop film and acting projects with communities, to share complex health messages, improve the understanding of disease, and alleviate stigma.

Acting for Health uses its unique theatre-based methology to improve healthcare professionals' confidence and communication skills to better understand and share complex health messages and work more closely and harmoniously with communities and patients.

Acting for Health uses the power of acting and creativity to tackle complex medical and global health challenges. We use a unique and powerful methodology, grounded in the Science of Acting and based on several years' work in the areas of disability and mental health, to help patients suffering from disease, their communities and also provide services to those working in the field: NGOs, Government Ministries, Pharmaceutical Companies...

Acting for Health engages and empowers patients to regain self confidence and their involvement and standing in society through participatory group projects using theatre and film, whatever their disability, disfigurement or mental health issue.

Acting for Health works with wider communities to find solutions and to convey and teach important and complex health messages to prevent stigma as well as foster an environment for the positive inclusion of NTD patients in communities.

Acting for Health works with healthcare professionals to teach the skills needed to support and communicate with patients and communities, and the skills needed to train healthcare colleagues.

At Acting for Health, we currently focus on:

• blindness & deaf-blindness

• mental health

• disability

• Neglected Tropical Diseases & diseases of poverty

• behaviour change

These conditions carry an immense toll on patients and communities, with many experiencing long-term burden and disability leading to social & economic exclusion, stigma and poor mental health.
